BuddyFileCheckInterval | |||||
This parameter controls a safety feature to prevent data loss in case of master/slave-switches of a BCS cluster. In case a running slave BCS cannot be synchronized when new days or shows are created on the master, the corresponding day directories or show XML files will be missing on the harddisk of the slave BCS. When making the slave the new master and then switching back to the original master, the synchronization on file level will delete the day directories/show XML files on the master, too - simply, because they were never present on the slave.
As workaround, a BCS, which is running as slave, can regularly check, whether the XML data tree of the master contains more dirs/files then its own XML data tree. If a discrepancy is detected and remains for some minutes, the slave triggers a self-restart. During startup a full synchronization on file level will then take place. This parameter specifies the interval in minutes of these regular checks. Default value is 30 minutes. The value should be a multiple of the parameter TreeSavingInterval (converted to minutes, default for the tree saving interval is 1 minute). Setting the parameter to 0 switches the feature off. If no buddy is configured, the feature is not active. |
